Word and Excel shut down after being minimized

I have a friend that is using Office 2003. She often minimizes Word or Excel
documents in order to do something else. Sometimes when she clicks on the
minimized program on the toolbar, it will just disappear like it was shut
down. This behavior does not always happen and I have not seen this happen
ever before.

Does anyone have any ideas.

PS This is not a new installation but it just started happening and now
happens more often than in the past.
