Word and Outlook 2003 - editing and formatting issues (invisible!)

I've had trouble with using Word as my editor in Outlook. Outlook can't find
the Word editor so it uses its own Outlook editor. Because of this, I can't
use any Auto Text or highlight sections of an email.

Word 2003 - when I try to print, the document looks empty/invisible on
screen. If I do a print preview, same thing. If I PRINT the document, the
copy is really there. Makes it hard to edit an existing document, highlight,
etc when you can't see it.

There have been other issues specific to Outlook 2003 recently, too. If
you'd like that info for background that might help problem solve this, let
me know. I can open a new question & refer back to this one if you like.

Thank you for your time.

I suggest that the first course of action is to open either Word or Outlook
and run the REPAIR option from the Help menu. Second, make sure that you
have the latest printer driver from the manufacturer's support site and then
delete and reinstall the printer.

Thank you for your time & suggestions. Already did the print driver part.
Will try the whole process you suggest & reply later today.

Finally got back to this. Seems to be ok now. I ran repair in Outlook. Also
cleared the forms cache in my calendar and inbox. This seems to be the magic
recipe to keep all images/text visible on screen and allow me to create items
in my calendar. I don't know if the cache thing is related to this, but I did
it anyway. Sorry to take so long to reply. If it happens again, I'll do the
repair from Word next time. Thank you for your help.

You may also need to run the PST tool to compress the database and clear any
errors and blank spaces. You should find SCANPST.EXE under Program Files |
Microsoft Office | Office 11. Make sure Outlook and Word are both closed and
then double-click SCANPST which should take a minute or two to complete.

Hmmm... I can't find that SCANPST.EXE. Even did a search for it. I'm in
Outlook 2003. My IT guys here at work are tired of me & they are just going
to push me into 2007 in the morning. Wish me luck. Meanwhile, things still
appear to be ok from your first steps suggested on the 6th. Really
appreciated the help! And so do my IT guys. :)
