Word and PowerPoint won't start

I have Office Enterprise 2007, running on my home computer (Vista) and can
not open Word or PowerPoint (but can open other office programs like Excel).
The error message I keep getting when I try to open Word/PowerPoint is
"Microsoft Office has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to
stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available."

We can't seem to figure this out... and we have already downloaded/installed
all of the service pack updates, etc. Help? Anyone know what is wrong?
Thanks much in advance.

Hi Earle - we had a major crash of our system to we had to completely wipe it
out and reinstall Vista and our Office... while doing so we changed the name
of our computer / user... is this our problem do you think? It is only
registered to the previous 'user name'... but then why would Excel still
work? Thanks!

Office shouldn't care about user names, only what is in the current logged
on user's account, profile and documents. I am thinking that if you
restored all the user files that you had before, then one of them might be
causing the problem.

Does this happen when you are logged in as another user?

Hi again... your assumption is bang on. When we log in as another user, Word
now works... any idea what we're doing wrong... or should we simply just
delete that other user profile and set up this new profile as our main
profile and administrator moving forward? Thanks so much Earle!

I am pretty sure that one of the Office settings files for the old user is
bad. You can run Office Diagnostics to try and fix it, but then again if
you are comfortable with migrating to a new user it might be less trouble.
