I have vista rtm (ultimate) and office 2007 enterprise.

Anyone else have a similar setup and having problems getting Word or
Publisher to open?

It just keeps saying word encountered a problem, it searches for some info
and then closes. The next time it asks about opening in safe mode, still
fails. And after that it tries to open some repair thing that doesn't help
either.

I'm not sure what my next steps are?

Thanks!

Is this Office 2007 Beta too? Have you got a printer installed and set as
the Windows default driver?

Terry, thanks for the reply.

It is Office 2007 RTM on a fresh Vista RTM instance all on top of a
repartitioned and formatted hard driver. There should be nothing of the
betas left on the box.

Now...I HAVE recently installed the drivers for my dell printer. And come
to think of it, pre installation of those dell printer drivers is when word
still worked. After having done that is when it seems to have stopped
working.

Now, not sure I understand your next question. I have my dell printer
installed, and it is set as the default Printer (which you may have meant),
but not sure what you mean by default driver...

What else can I tell ya to help out or try doing? I can try uninstalling
the printer or whatever we want to get it working.

Thanks again for your reply!

It could very well be the printer that is the problem then. Word needs to
see a printer driver to work. If it is corrupt or a badly written driver,
Word won't run. Try installing a different printer driver and see if that
resolves the problem.

I also have a dell printer driver installed. If I do not make my Dell
printer the default printer, then word works great. If the Dell printer
is the default printer, then it will not open. I hope that Dell can fix
this.
