When I click “Fileâ€, “New Works Template†in Microsoft Word, I receive the
following Message from Microsoft Works: “The Works Task Launcher does not
have information about the program you were using when you opened the Task
Launcher. Try reinstalling the program…†How do I do this? Should I
reinstall Word or Works?

Are you starting Word freestanding or from the Works Task Launcher? Is the
Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word still installed?

I start Word freestanding. If I open the Works Task Launcher and click
on"programs", Word is not listed. Does that mean that the Add-in for Word is
not installed?

Thanks very much!!!

If you generally use Word freestanding, then you are better off with the
add-in not installed (as it apparently isn't) because it causes many
problems in Word used that way. But without the add-in you don't have access
to the Works templates for Word, so you may as well remove them from your
menu.

It used to work for ages; when I clicked "New Works Template" all my Word
*.dot files were shown (faxes, envelopes etc.). How would I get access to
these*.dot files, other than going through the explorer?

Not the New button on the Standard toolbar, but the New... command on the
File menu. This should either open the New dialog (in Word 2000 and earlier)
or the New Document task pane (Word 2002/2003).
