Word appears then disappears

Opening Word '97 the logo Word 97 appears then disappears.
hitting Ctrl-Alt-Delete tells me that Word is running but
nothing appears. Help?

Most likely Word is opening in a Normal window offscreen. To get it back,
open any other window, then right-click on the Taskbar and choose Cascade.
This should bring the Word window back in view. Use the mouse to move and
size it to your preference, then quit Word. When you restart Word, it should
be where you left it.
