Barb;

I'm assuming you mean, "Is the Mac version of Word
different from the PC version of Word?"

Somewhat, yes. While may of the commands and
functionalities are the same, sharing files between the
two versions of Word isn't seamless.

If you are trying to convert or move a PC Word file to
Word for Mac, you shouldn't have too much trouble. Macs
have the built-in ability to read PC disks. It's better
to open Word, then select File to Open instead of just
trying to double-click the PC Word file on your Mac (it's
also easier to copy the file to your hard drive first -
that way, you are working with a copy so if something
goes wrong you still have the original, and working from
a floppy is very slow).

Converting or moving a Word for Mac file to a PC Word
document is a bit more difficult - PCs don't come ready
to read Mac disks. You can download free or trial copies
of software designed just for that purpose from
download.com, however. You'll also need to rename the
files using a ".doc" extension so Word recognizes them
easier.

If that wasn't your question, well then - forget
everything I just wrote. ;-)
