Word Art in Front of a Filled Shape or Text Box ???

In 2007 Word, I want to take a Shape or a Text Box, fill it with color and
then place a Word Art object over it and still have the shape or text box
color show up behind the Word Art.

It doesn’t work. I’ve tried the Send to Back, Send to Front, Send it
Behind,…Send it anywhere! And I cannot get it to work as it used to do in my
old ’97 version of Word. What’s the scoop?

I suspect you have the default for inserting or pasting graphics set to "in line
with text", and that's the wrapping type for your WordArt. Select the WordArt
and click the Text Wrapping button on the WordArt Tools ribbon, then select In
Front of Text from the dropdown. If it's still behind the text box, click the
Bring To Front button which should now work -- at least, it does for me.

Thanks Jay and Mary for responding. Here's the real scoop...after I took a
nap (lol), I went back to my project.

What I had done (that I had forgotten about) was to insert a text box that
pretty much covered the entire page. In that text box I did the Word Art,
then created a shape or text box, filled with color and then told the filled
shape or text box to go behind text or go to the back, etc. What it was
doing was correct...went behind the orginal text box. When I would tell it
to come to the front...it would and would hide my Word Art.

Sorry for the false alarm, but I do thank you both for wanting to help.
