Word Art should take less room on the page

Word Art used to NOT be in a "text box". It used to have borders that
mirrored the shape of the text which allowed other items to be placed closer
to it than is possible now with the text box that surrounds the text. Is
there any way to go back to the former version of Word Art to have a more
flexible border around the text? I am currently using the most recent
version of Word and would like to be able to create text and picture
documents using Word Art that would allow me to bring images, text boxes, and
other items closer to the word art item, thus allowing me to create more
cohesive and better composed documents?

Hi Mem,

WordArt itself has not changed but you may be seeing
it come up in a Drawing Canvas based on the setting added
to Word 2003 in Tools=>Options=>General
