Word as Browser

Under what circumstances would one want to use Word as a browser, and how is
it done?

If you open Word, go File > Open and type in a URL as the file name, Word
will display the page for you (if it can), which is what a browser does.
Never found a use for the technique myself, but no doubt somebody has.
