Word as default app for WordML files

Hi;

I had this set on my last computer - but no idea how. How can I set WordML
files to have a default application of Word? Right now it's IE which does
bring up Word inside it - but that is not as useful as it just being Word.

ps - This is not the right forum for this question, but I have no idea what
is. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Hi David,

This does not seem to be a Programming issue.

I think you may try to right click on the Word XML file and select Open With
Select "Choose Program..." and then select Word application and check the
"Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"

Hi;

That sort-of works - I can open all xml files with Word that way. But my old
system would open WordML with Word, SpreadsheetML with Excel, and other xml
with IE.

Any idea which forum I should post this question in?

Are these files Word is generating, or ones you're creating?

Word should be putting PI (processing instruction) into the WordML file that
will tell IE to redirect to Word. If these are files you've created, you have
to remember to add that into the mix...

BTW, there is an office.xml newsgroup. That would be the most appropriate
place to ask (although no guarantee you'd get an answer).
