Word as email editor turns the page blue

When in Outlook, I tick "use Word as email editor", when the email is html,
it looks fine when sent, but when it arrives, it looks as if the text has
been shaded blue.
If I then forward the message - so that I can edit it and see what's going
on, then it doesn't appear to be either shaded nor have a background. Only
the body text is blue - not the [To, From, Subject] bit. If I use Outlook to
make messages, they arrive fine, but I want to be able to use Word without it
mysteriously turning blue between sending and it being received.

When you say it arrives: do you mean at the recipients end? Does this happen
to the email to ALL recipients?

Have you checked in Tools, Options, Mail Format to see what fonts/colours
have been set for mail?

Which version of Office is this?
