Word Asks For 'USER NAME For Office Workgroup' - WHY!?!

When loaded, Microsoft Word (using Microsoft Office 97, Pro Ed.) is asking
for a USER NAME / INITIALS (FOR OFFICE WORKGROUP) via a small box, but if 'x'
it out, or 'cancel' it, or simply fill it out and press 'send' it freezes the
screen! The only way out is by Cntl-Alt-Del each time, when I check back on
it. How do I get rid of this USER NAME box so that I can use Word as normal?!
(Note: I recently brought down a trial version of McAfee ... could that have
something to do with it?!) Please, if anyone has any ideas, let me know as
