Word attachements won't open?

Please help me if you can. I have sent an word document
as an attachement and no can open it. I have office xp
2002 and for some reason, I can open it when I email it to
myself but why can't anyone else open it? Please help.

It is probable that the folks to whom you sent email have configured
their Outlook Express to not open attachments. Tell them to reconfigure
Outlook to enable attachments to open. Discussed in OE's Help, and via
the Tools/Options/Security menu.

But if they plan to edit the attachments, they'd be better advised to save
them to the HD first instead of opening them directly. We hear many sad
stories of people opening attachments, editing for hours (saving
frequently), closing them, quitting Word, and then finding that their edits
are gone because the file was open in (and saved to) a temp folder and hence
deleted when Word was closed.
