Word Attachment Problem

Hi
I have a client who sends out word documents often. He has a 2003 server.
When people receive certain attachments, there seems to be a problem opening.
In the bottom left of the word application, it seems word is trying to
contact the senders server in order to open the attachment. If i press escape
it brings up the attachment and stops trying to contact the server.
Does anyone have any idea why word is doing this and how i can get it to
stop? As i said, it seems like this is only happening from a few of the
shared folders. Whilst it is trying to open an attachment, word and outlook
hang, if i press escape the attachment opens, and both stop hangning.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long winded post!

This happens when the document template the file is based on resides on an
available server location. Pressing Esc is the way to stop it from
happening... assuming you do want it to stop. Alternatively, save the file
locally, and use Tools - Templates and Add-ins to attach a local template
(preferably, a copy of whatever template resides on the server so that the
formatting doesn't get munged).

hi terry,
yes the document is created from a template. would the only solution /s be
to the problem to either create the document locallay, or to copy it locally
before sending it?
