Word attachment problem

As of yesterday I notice that when I attach a word document and send it
via Webmail, the name of the document has slightly changed. For
example, the original document was named Madrid.doc. But when I sent
it, I looked in my sent box and opened up the attachment and it says
null/Madrid.doc. I tried to send several other Word documents and each
one has the null/
as an addition to the name. Any idea what's going on and what I can do
to correct this?

It's much more likely to be something your Webmail is doing, not Word,
in which case you would need to ask the webmail provider. My totally
uneducated and ignorant guess would be that the Webmail has to upload
the file to some temporary folder so that it can be accessed even when
you open up Webmail on some other machine, and that the webmail calls
that folder "null". That slash / would suggest that null is a folder
storing the document, not really changing the file name.

Is this actually causing a problem?

You might try attaching some other type of document. If the same thing
doesn't happen, maybe it is Word. In that case, be sure to give version
numbers for OS, Word, and web browser that you are using.

But I notice that while I'm now at an internet cafe (and not on my mac
iBook) and tried to send a Word document via Webmail, there was no
problem. It seems to only happen when using my laptop.
