Word attachments being corrupted by Entourage

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: imap Word attachments are becoming "damaged" by Entourage's latest version. Using the OPEN or SAVE buttons next to a Word attachment introduces bad code so that no version of any word processor can open the files, least of all WORD 2008:Mac, which reports that Word has been protected from opening files of this type, etc....
Yet, downloading the file directly from webmail, produces a file that all word processors are able to open without a problem. Word 2008, Word 2004, Pages 09, OpenOffice, etc...
Where's the fix for this issue? IT's a SERIOUS bug!! Many have posted about it in Word forum. Once again, a downgrade in compatibility as Entourage takes files captive and messes with their heads!

That's VERY different. It doesn't mean that the file is corrupted, just
that Word refuses to open it for security reasons.
Look at the other post for suggestions, but I suspect that your Version
of Office is not up to date.

Sure. When you get it by e-mail, you still have the original creator
code (which is outdated and blocked by Word for security reasons 0
though this has been reverted in a recent Office update).
Through the Web, the type and creator code are stripped and it's not a problem.

I also posted a link in the other thread to scripts that can fix the
type code for you if need be (but it shouldn’t be useful if you update
Office).

Perhaps you have configured Entourage to download the messages only
partially. When you view the message in Entourage, is there a yellow bar
on top of the e-mail text that allows you to download the message in its
entirety? If not, go to Tools>Accounts, double-click your account,
switch to the Options tab and make sure the option "Partially receive
messages over" is not checked.

Well if it is the case, you do not get a warning telling you that "Word
will not open the file for security reasons" :-\
