Word attachments open in Adobe Photoshop - how to change back?

I had some photos given to me in Word. I tried to open them with Photoshop,
to no avail. I eventually printed the photos to PDF, and then saved them in
Photoshop. However, when I sent the Word narrative with the photos (jpeg
now), the Word attachment tries to open with Photoshop - and that's any word
document I put in as an attachment.

How do I reverse/correct this situation?
