Word Auto Correct Symbols

M

Maralias

Is there anyway to set up OneNote to deal with autocorrect symbols as word
does such as --> changing to an actual arrow. I tried copying symbols from
the character map but the Arrows weren't the same size or thickness as the
ones in word...any suggestions?

Thanks

The problem you are facing is most probably due to the fact that the apps use
different fonts to show the symbols.

To avoid the app integration you could try this:
- Find Unicode codepoints for the symbols you need (e.g. see below)
- Type the code onto OneNote page, select it then press Alt+X - this will
convert the code into the symbol
- Copy the symbol from the page into clipboard and go to <Tools |
AutoCorrect Options> - paste the symbol there and type the sequence you want
to use for the autocorrect.

Example of codepoints:
2194 arrow both
2190 arrowl eft
2191 arrow up
2192 arrow right
2193 arrow down
263A white happy face

Note: when you try for any of the arrows you'll see that ON uses Times New
Roman to display it - which means you can find other arrows in Times New
Roman section of "Insert Symbol" dialog to insert on the page (rather than
using the actual codepoints).

Hope it helps,
