Word auto Numbering

I am trying to set up auto numbering for a word document.
the problem is I am having difficulty updating the styles
to get the auto numbering working correctly. It should be
as shown below,

1 Introduction
1.1 Sub section
1.2 Sub section
1.2.1 Sub section
2
2.1
etc

However, I am getting within section2 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 etc
instead of 2.1, 2.2 etc

For the highest level I used style Heading 1 and for the
sub sections heading 2 etc

For the Heading1 style the characteristics shown when I
format style is Normal + Font: 14pt,Bold,Indent:Hanging
0.63cm,Keep with next, Level 1, Outline numbered, Tabs:
0.63cm, Automatically update

For the Heading2 style the characteristics shown when I
format style is Normal + Font:Bold,Font Color: Black,
Indent:Hanging 1.27cm,Keep with next, Level 2, Outline
numbered, Tabs: 1.27cm, Automatically update

Any help much appreciated.
