Word Automation : Interactive User

A

Ajay Kumar Suri

Hi All,

I have an application that does word automation from ASP.
From support site, I have understood that automation is
supported only with Interactive user.

My query is that : Does the interacive user need to be
with admin rights. In other words, can a normal user
account act as an interactive user for word automation.

Thanks & Regards,

I think you might have misunderstood the article-- I don't believe Office
automation requires "Interactive user" in the context of a security role, I
believe the real requirement is an actual human being sitting at the local
keyboard.

We do not support use of Office client applications in server side
solutions; while it is generally possible to pull it off, there are many
caveats and places where this use can break down. (Issues include
threading, permissions, modal UI, and more.)

Hence, using Office client code from ASP is not considered a supported
scenario by Microsoft.
