Word begins typing in computer language

Recently, when typing in Word, the screen began displaying
computer language...just squares and symbols, and even an
embeded hyper link. The screen still said that the font
was Arial 12 pt. Would a virus cause this, or is it a
problem with the software? I've been advised to delete
Word and replace it with a new copy.

This may be a virus or may be because you have Voice Recognition active.
Uninstall the Voice Recognition and test your computer with an up to date
virus scanner. Don't uninstall Word as this resolves nothing: it will only
waste your time.
