Word Cannot Exit

Every time I try to exit Word I get the following message:
Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and cannot exit. We are
sorry of the incovenience.
To force Word to exit, click end now. Any changes you made recently might
be lost if you force the problem to exit.
To continue waiting for the program to respond, click cancel.
The computer fan runs very hard during this shut down process.

This is usually due to an incompatible third party add-in. To test for this,
start Word in Safe Mode. From Start, Run (Winkey+R), type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word will start in its default install mode bypassing all
customisation or add-ins. Test to see if Word close properly now. If it is
now OK, look for add-in templates in the Word Start-up folder and remove
them adding them back one at a time until you find the problem.

Worked (exited) fine in safe mode. Can you walk me through the process of
deleting the add-in templates in the Word start-up folder?

Thanks in advance.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Word Start-up folder. Temporarily
remove the templates to another folder. Test Word to make sure it is OK.
Then add each template back to the Start-up folder testing as each one is
added.
