word cannot fire event

Hi, please help. I am using office x (with latest updates) on a mac
G4. When I use word and go to open or close a doc, I get the message
"Word cannot fire event", then a dialog box appears asking if I wish
to save the changes I have made ( I make no changes). I am able to use
the program, but these added steps are a pain. Anyone know how i can
get rid of this problem. Thanks so much!
