word cannot open the document user does not have access privilege

I'm trying to open some files in Microsoft Word 2002 and am getting the
following error message.
User does not have access privileges.

What is this and how do I get rid of it? Noone in my household would have
password protected these files.

Has the PC been set up so that different users have different log-ins? Are
you using Norton Anti Virus? If you are using NAV, open NAV and disable the
Office Plug-in option under Preferences.

I am running McAfee Antivirus and Win xp pro with one user.
