When typing up a history outline, i noticed that when i got up to the
Secondary set in, it didn't look right:

....
IX.
a. Text
b. Text
c. Text
...
ll. Text
mm. Text <------- i can't bring it back anyfarther...
nn. Text

If any extra info is needed, i will assist in the best way i can.

(i'm using Microsoft Office 2003(11.6568.6568) w/ SP2 Professional Ediition
and all updates available)

The formatting for mm. is failing because there isn't enough room for the
numeral before the tab stop position. So you need at least to set a larger
tab position and indent - if you want the outline numerals to align on the
period you will also need to set the tab stop as a right tab.

All this must be done in the numbering format, not via paragraph indent/tab
formatting. You don't say how you are setting this up, but the tried, tested
and recommended method is to use separate styles for each of your outline
levels, and link them to outline list levels, setting up the whole hierarchy
from a Modify of the top level style. This is explained in detail for
numbered headings in

http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html

You should be able to adapt this method to the outline format you need.

You need to set the "Tab space after" (and the hanging indent) farther to
the right to accommodate longer (wider) "numbers."

It would be prudent to assume, until proved otherwise, that Word can do what
you want to do and you just don't know how to do it. Start with a question.
If you get the answer that Word is incapable of doing what you want, then
post a suggestion for improvement.

Ok... my suggestion is to have Word auto correct such things such as i have
previously posted and auto correct it by reducing the font size or resizing
the indent and tab spacings....

Don't hold your breath. For such numbering you may want to specify that the
"numbers" be right-aligned, which will eliminate the problem.
