Word causes re-boot when pasting picture in document

I recently applied some windows upgrade patches and now
whenever I try to paste a picture into a word document
the computer displays a error message about dumping
memory and a fault at 0x0000008E.
If I use the 'insert picture from file' command, it works
fine.
Any ideas?
