word check in/out event capture

Hi,

Inside word 2007 environment, how can one capture the server check-in/out
event when a document is stored in WSS 3.0 site?

I notice the ribbon button will disable automatically when the document is
open from SharePoint and word 2007 will open the document as read-only.
