Word chrashes when writing and complains on ATI driver

I'm using Word 2003 on my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D 8830 lap top with XP Pro.
Word chrashes several times a day when I'm writing, never directly on
start-up. There doesn't seem to be any difference if I'm working on a small
or large document, with or without pictures, or if I'm using any other
applications at the same time.
The screen sometimes goes completely black, sometimes just freeze, sometimes
goes blue with white stripes (!). The computer seems to be on, but doesn't
respond to anything except the on/off button.
When its up and running again an error message saying "The system has
recovered from an serius error" sometimes occur and I get the following
message from Microsoft Chrash Analysis:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For some reason, this error message doesn't appear everytime Word freezes.
I have tried new drivers, but the problem still occurs.

Does anyone have any soluion to this problem? This is extremly annoying!

Thanks!
