Word clears clipboard

D

Dan

Any time I launch Word, the clipboard is emptied. Once
Word is open, I can jump to other apps and copy from them
and paste into Word, but if I Copy first, then open Word,
whatever I copied is gone from the clipboard when Word
finishes opening.

Is Word part of Works Suite? If so, go to Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs and uninstall the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word. Clearing
the Clipboard on starting word is only one of this add-in's nasty habits.

Note that if you installed Office over Works Suite, the Word in Works Suite
will not have been replaced. This will cause problems if you ever need the
product key for Word because it won't be the same as for the rest of office.
It would be wise to uninstall Word from Works Suite and install it from
Office.

I'll second Suzanne's advice to uninstall Word and reinstall from your
Office installation.

You will also need to keep track of two CD keys and two sets of
installation CDs. And if you need the installation CDs for Office
updates you'll need to swap the CDs as prompted. Not to mention the
prompts for which installation media the update needs can be cryptic
at times.
