Word closes when file deleted

Okay, I am very frustrated here. I am using Microsoft Word 2002, which was
included in my "XP office small business". Word closes at different times,
but not every time, when I try to delete a file, rename a file, or even open
a file. It does not do it every time, and there is no obvious reason why it
is doing it now. Also, a "search for file name" function has appeared in my
open file menu. I don't know where it came from or how it got there. I
noticed it for the first time on 10/20/06, and Word kept closing that day
with different functions. Yesterday morning, 10/24/06, the "search for file
name" box was no longer there and Word was working fine. Later in the
afternoon I went under start to search for a file, when I went back to Word
the box was there once again and now Word keeps closing. I cannot figure out
how/why in the world this box has appeared, and I have definitely searched on
this board and other places to try to find a solution. Can some please help
me with this? I work from home as a medical transcriptionist and I am unable
to work due to this problem. Thank you in advance. Oh, and no, I have not
added or deleted anything on my computer. All of my updates are up-to-date.

Nevermind. I called the Geek Squad after much frustration and, no offense,
absolutely no help on this board after two posts. I had a nasty Trojan virus

Since the issue was caused by a virus then chances are you'd need to
call someone to help you clean it anyway. :)
