Office 2000 on XP Pro SP2
Today, when I attempt to open Word, I receive the following error message:
"Runtime Error!
Program: E:\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information"
Searching the web, I find that this prob is usually caused by an AddIn
which is corrupted. I can start Word from the RUN command using
winword.exe /a, which starts Word without any addins, which would
indicate that the error message is caused by an Addin problem.
I then renamed all DOT files to OLD & attempted to start Word and
received the same error message (as above)- which would indicate that it
may NOT be an AddIn problem!!
Reviewing the docs at the MVPS site, I found the article re: deleting
the Reg keys (detailed at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm
I REnamed the keys, placing OLD in front of each key and still have the
same problem opening Word
Any hints would be appreciated.
TIA
Doug
