Word Closing Document Without Prompting To Save

Hi,

I'm using Word 2000 and just recently noticed that when I close a document
that I've been editing, Word is closing it without prompting me to save the
changes. Sure enough, when I reopened the same document, all the changes
that I'd made to the document were gone. Is this symptomatic of a macro
virus? Any advice appreciated.
