Word Columns

Hello. I'm working on a dialectical journal and I have to have two columns
with a passage from a piece of literature on one side and a response on the
other side. How do I format it for the information on the right stays on the
right and vice versa? Basically when I'm typing on the right side, it moves
the left side down. How do I make each side work independently?

Thank you. I thought that is what I'd have to end up doing. It's just sort've
a pain because it's going to end up being about 30 pages.

There's no reason a table can't span 30 pages. If you want things aligned
left and right, use a new row for each set of items that needs to be
aligned. When you reach the bottom right cell in a table, simply press the
Tab key to insert a new row.

Indeed, it is vital that you do start a new row at least once per page. Word
becomes very uncomfortable and unwieldy (and unstable) with long single-row
tables.
