Word, COM Add In and IE behaviour help needed

Hi all,

I have a COM Add In written in .NET C# and running on XP with Office 2003.

The add in stores some data for each document and displays this in a custom
toolbar when documents are loaded.
However when I launch word by clicking on a hyperlink, with a href to a
document, in IE, my custom toolbar does not appear.
I have to go into View\Toolbars and select it for it to become visible.
This does not happen when just double clicking a file on the hard disk when
using Windows Explorer.
I have tried deleting Normal.dot between launchings of Word but this makes
no difference.

I should add that in the "OnStartupComplete" AddIn function I use code to
physically make the toolbar visible but it still wont work from hyplerlinks.
It is as though something else is happening after I have recieved the Word
connection events that is overwriting my settings.

If anyone can throw any light on what is happening or how I can get round
this I would be very grateful as I have been 2 weeks looking for a fix so
far.

Yours hopefully!

Sorry to get annoyed here but at my company we have subscribed to msdn for
years. My latest subscription advises me of the following:

"The MSDN Managed Newsgroup benefit gives you unlimited access to English
language managed newsgroups as an MSDN subscriber. Get responses to your
questions from the community or Microsoft within two business days. "

This is the first ime I have tried to use the help offered in this way and I
get nothing in response. Makes me wonder why we pay all this money for
subscripions.

Disgruntled of England.

Sincere apologies for the above moan.
On rechecking my subscription email etc it transpired I hadnt registered my
alias correctly with my account.

I will try again with the new registration complete.

Sorry.

Hi KeithM,
On rechecking my subscription email etc it transpired I hadnt registered my
alias correctly with my account.

I will try again with the new registration complete.
I'm relieved that the MSFT folks monitoring for MSDN subscriptions haven't
fallen down on the job :) I was worrying about this; now I can take it off my
check-list.
