Can Word for Mac OSX be configured so the comments siplay and operate the

What version of Word do you have, and can you describe what you mean by
"better" way?

I'm guessing--but it's just a guess, cause you didn't say--that you want
comments to show up as balloons in the margins, which has been with WinWord
since 2002. That can be configured, but only in Word 2004, not Word X (both
of which run native in OS X, so your description of what you have could fit
either).

Prior to Mac Word 2004, revisions/track changes displayed only inline with
the text. Mac Word 2004 will display marked up text in the same manner, but
also introduced the track changes balloons. These balloons display very
similarly to the track changes balloons in Word for Windows 2003, but
included a title bar that displays the reviewer's name and the date stamp of
the revision. You will find display preferences for balloons on the Word
preference dialog, Track Changes section. The options are "Include author,
time stamp and action buttons" and "Use balloons to display changes".

We should add that you have to be in page layout view or online layout
view to persuade the balloons to peep out from wherever they hide. It's
in the help, but not easy to find it there.

Since you are here Shawn, I later found my grumble no.1 only applies to
comments with single brackets. If you select some text before adding a
comment, the insertion point returns *after* the closing comment anchor
bracket as you would expect.

Yeah. This one just caught me. Considering that Word usually flips me into
Page Layout mode when necessary, it took me a while to figure out why I was
getting the reviewing pane even when I had balloons turned on.
