Word constantly freezes up when trying to save files... Help!?

My Word Program (Office 2002 For Students and Teachers) is constantly
freezing and giving me the "Not Responding" Message whenever I try to either
open a new file or save a new file. It will let me save old ones but it won't
let me change the name.

Does anyone know what's going on?

I thought about a virus, but my virus scanner hasn't found any yet.
