I am seeing this message often among my users with Office 2003 on brand new
XP SP2 machines. This is often coupled with additional "out of memory"
related errors.
With the exception of Modify rights to the Program Files folder, users are
only granted default User rights on their machine. When I add them to their
computer's Local Admin group the problem goes away. It seems that Word is
trying to write to a file in a location that regular users do not have rights
to. Any clues where this may be?
I have set the temp environment variable to point to the correct location of
winword.exe.
