Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel...

One of my users is getting this error from Microsoft Word 2000:

"Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel to
complete the current task."

I have tried every solution/workaround I have found in the
newsgroups/ms knowledge base but no luck. Any suggestions?
