Word count of sections or paragraphs.

Dear members:

I am trying to insert the word count in a document but haven't yet
found a way to do it. The help files show how to insert the total word
count of a document but doesn't discuss how this can be done per
sections.

The task I am trying to accomplish is this: I need to insert at the
end of every paragraph of a document the total word count of that
paragraph. I would also like to do this per sections so that at the
end of every section I could do the same (insert the overall word
count for that section).

How can I accomplish this?

Thank you in advance,

JRC

Hi JRC,

Word has no in-built tools for returning the word count of a specified range.

The simplest way to get the word count for a particular paragraph is to copy & paste it into another document, and get the word
count there. For anything more sophisticated, you'd need a macro.

In Word 2008, it's Tools>Word Count.

If you have no selection, that will give you the word count for the entire
document.

If you have text selected, the values displayed will be for the selection.

Check the Help for more.

Cheers
