Word Count Toolbar

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I know this is a very simple question but I was wondering how I can view a toolbar with the word count of a document, instead of having to go through the Tools tab each time. I remember using it on an old version of word on a pc before, but now that I have word for mac I can't find how to do this. Thank you in advance for any help you can throw my way.

If MacWord has a Word Count toolbar, I can't find it (though I thought I
remembered seeing it in the past), but you have other options:

1) Put a Live Word Count on the status bar--see Word | Preferences |
View to turn it on

2) customize the toolbar to have the Word Count command one-click away
instead of needing to use Tools. See the tutorial on toolbar customizing

You can set this in Preferences.

Word --> Preferences ->  View ->  Window ->  Live Word Count

That's because Mac Word never got the Word Count toolbar :-{

However, if you rely on it you can go to Tools> Customize> Customize
Keyboard, select Tools from the Categories list then select ToolsWordCount
from the Commands list & assign a keystroke to it. Alternatively you could
add the command directly to a toolbar as a custom button.
