word crahes when opening "macros enabled" file

Annie

When I try to open any previously saved Word document it asks if I want
to enable or disable macros. If I choose to enable them I am
immediately kicked out of Word every time without ever seeing my
document. If I disable them it becomes a read-only file, which is of
little use to me in that form. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank
you.

You can do a Save As on a read-only file. However, since you say this
happens with every saved file, and presumably every saved file doesn't have
macros in it, something is very wrong with your Word setup.

Work through the troubleshooting tips listed here:

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

Hi Annie:

That's a clear sign that you almost certainly have picked up a virus.

Update your antivirus program and let it do a deep scan of your hard disk.
It sounds as though the virus has spread.

You may be able to fix it by re-naming your Normal template. That might fix
it for now. However, the virus will still be lurking there somewhere among
your files, and it will come back eventually.

Cheers
