I have red some messages talking about a crash in Word
when the user tries to open any document.
I have experienced the same problem and now I know the
reason (in my environment at least). I had installed
Office XP with Windows XP and later I installed Microsoft
Project 2000 and PhotoDraw 2000.
I detect the problem when I deactivate the grammar and
speller check. The problem didn't appears.
Looking for information in the Knowledge Base, I found a
document talking about problems with grammar modules when
we install Office XP before other Microsoft 2000 apps.
The solution is reinstall Office XP (maybe "repair"
option can run) on the system. Never install any 2000
product AFTER Office XP installation.
In general, the better action to install apps is begin
with the older apps in go through newer (i.e. in order,
first v.97-98 apps, 2000 apps, 2001 apps).
I hope that this idea can help you.
