Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

.... and when pasting copied text from (for instance) Firefox into a document, either doc or .docx.
Very annoying!

Sets back my work flow. It has been reported, but no work around as far as I can see?

Consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of
the standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:

http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

Work through them one by one until something helps. If nothing does,
post back. The most common culprit is a corrupted Normal template or
damaged Preferences file.

Hello riicon;

Although Word 2008 has had more than its share of problems, crashes caused
by simply changing font size isn't one of them. Pasting content from web
sites can be challenging based on a number of variables regardless of the
type of document you're pasting to and isn't endemic to Word, either.

I'm afraid it sounds as though there are some issues with your local
installation that are causing the crashes. Unfortunately the scant info
you've provided hardly gives a clue as to where to begin correcting them.

Please reply with exact OS X & Office update levels, specs of your Mac, and
a detailed explanation of each problem. If there are multiple problems they
should each be posted as separate NEW messages... And please don't try to
jam it all into the Subject Line. There are a number of capable people
willing to help but you need to provide enough accurate facts to work with.

Thanks for responding!

Here is the latest Error report (the very long mid section is left out, but can be found here:

I hope somehow the answer to the problem can be found here. I never had a problem like this in the previous version of MS Office. I run a legal student version of MS Office 2008.

Development:

I suppose the suggestion of something wrong with my local installation proves right. No other user on the same MacBookPro has problems with Word 2008.
It is only me, being the administrator of the Mac. I post the first and last part of the latest error log here:

I am not sure if I should run the installation disc once more, or what I can do to get rid of this. I have used disc repair......

Sorry - we're not "Development" :) We're just users who try to help other
users as best we can.

It does sound like the problem is specific to that admin user account. The
first thing I'd suggest is to run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions
then get the 12.1.3 update, apply that & repair permissions again.

If the problem continues afterward we'll have to dig a bit deeper, but
reinstalling is NOT the correct step to take... and seldom is :) the files
that cause problems are not the ones installed from the source disk &
reinstalling does nothing to repair/replace the ones that may be at fault.

See how the above goes & we'll take it from there.
