Word crashes after displaying dialog stating that I have no more space...I have 24 Gb free!

After working with Word (10.1.5) for a couple of hours I suddenly got
a message that autorecovery could not save the current state of the
document due to lack of space. I was told to free up space, but I have
24 Gb on my harddrive and 768 Mb of Ram , so that could not be it. I
tried to save it manually, but got the same dialog and then Word
Unexpectetly Quit. Bummer!

I have repaired disk privileges, and thats not the problem. Why is
Word so unstable?

I'm running Panther 10.3.1 and have used the latest Office Updaters
10.1.2/10.1.4 and 10.1.5 before the insident.

Best regards,
Peter Larsen

Ps. Why does it sometimes take several seconds for word register that
I have just chosen to delete part of the text in a document. It jas
always been like that i Word for OS X, but never occured in OS 9.
