Word crashes after update when changing language of DOC

L

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I updated office to 12.1.3 (this is word's version) and also installed the 12.1.4 Entourage update. (Running OS X 10.5.5 - with all updates)

When I change the language on a word document to Spanish, word crashes immediately. Otherwise it works.

I have repaired permissions - but this does not help. (Problem report is pasted below)

Any idea? Thanks

After troubleshooting various settings and almost removing office to reinstall. I started deleting some of the preference files one by one. It appears the culprit was "Proofing Tools Preferences". After its removal, it got recreated and so far the crash caused by switching languages appears to have stopped.

I moved from PC to MAC just recently and so far the only thing that crashes on my MAC is the only Microsoft application I have, Office.
