All,
I run Office2007 in Vista Business SP1 on a tablet. Internet security is
from Kaspersky 2009, a suite of firewall and anti-everything. I began to have
application crashes a couple of weeks ago and I can't remember any one system
event that might have triggered this change.
Word crashes immediately when I click the icon in the QuickLaunch bar.
However, if I dig up a document and double-click that in Windows Explorer it
will run. Sometimes Microsoft's promised suggestion shows up but most of the
time there is no suggestion. This crash happens even if I exit Kaspersky. I
exit Kaspersky because although I rarely get a suggestion of cause, twice the
suggestions returned was that anti-virus software had caused the crash (but
these messages were not both about Word's crashes... I believe I got that
answer *once* concerning a Word crash.)
I did run the Repair process from my original Office2007 DVD. No change in
behavior.
There are two other problems and I mention them in case they are related.
(My productivity machine is delivering anything but!) The Vista System
Restore module is broken ("Transient error") and I can't find a cure on the
web. Also the Lenovo-supplied "Rescue and Recovery Backup Service" no longer
works and is reported as a crash by Vista. In my limited experience problems
like this ARE related.
Any suggestions?
