word crashes everytime i try to edit a file

hi, i'm trying to use word 11.2 and i get crashes everytime i type the
first character in new document.

i can open a doc and view it but when i make an edit word crashes..

can anyone give me a clue here? i've had zero luck with word on the
mac, this is horrible

I would move the Normal template to the desktop and see if the problem
