Word Crashes on closing

Chuck

I have Vista Home Proefessional with all updates and Office 2007 SP1.

I have issues with Word crashing upon closing about 75% of the time, but
also PowerPoint about 50% and Excel about 25% of the time. I now have several
hundred error files listed under the Problem Reports and solutions listings.

I ran windows diagnostic and received the following:
The crashes you experienced with Microsoft Office have been analyzed. The
following are solutions that may improve your experience with Microsoft
Office:

I SELECTED THE "VIEW SOLUTION 1" and got the following:

Download updates for Microsoft Office system software

This problem was caused by Microsoft Office system software, which was
created by Microsoft Corporation.

An update is available for your Microsoft Office system product. This
cumulative update fixes many of the problems customers have reported to us,
and it might address this problem.

Get the update from the Office Update website

I then select "Get the update from the Office Update website " and the next
site says that for Visio users all updates are handled by Microsoft Updater
or something. I run Microsoft update and the only update I get is for
Microsoft Silverlight optional download.

I have this same issue. Can you tell me here so I don't have to look
everywhere for the answer?

Here's MVP Herb Tyson's answer from the previous thread (which certainly
wasn't difficult to find):

*********************
Usual culprits are:

1. Corrupted Normal.dotm (rename or delete)

2. Corrupted registry entry (usually
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word; rename or delete)

3. Misbehaving add-in (try turning all add-ins off, then add them back one
at a time to try to determine which one is causing the problem).

Oddly enough, the same problems that prevent Word from closing properly can
also prevent it from opening properly. So, for more information on how
troubleshooting, try here:
