I just started using Windows 2000. I'm an experienced
Office 2000 user. When I open a Word 2000 document
(created on a different Windows ME based system) and make
any change and save, I get an error message like "Word has
performed an illegal function and will close..." and then
Word closes. If I create the document in Word on the
system running Win 2K it saves just fine. If I cut the
text from the document created on the Win ME system and
paste it into a new document on the Win 2K system, it
saves perfectly.
When the error occurs, an error log is created that among
the hex and register information, makes reference to an
access violation. Is this a file permission problem? If
so, how do I fix it?
